Seoul: Chikalicious (치카리셔스) @ Hongdae – My favorite cupcake in town

If you’re into cupcake as much as I do I’m pretty sure you have heard of Chikalicious – the famous dessert club in New York – before. The shop opened its Seoul location in Hongdae some time in 2012 and right after I found out it has a store in Seoul I went have my cupcake fix right away.

The shop is on a small lane in the back of Hongdae, away from all the noise and people. I arrived at night and luckily there’s still cupcakes left on the shelf. The cake shop doesn’t have a lot of space with only 3 or 4 tables and they all are taken.

The whole shop view

All the beautiful cupcakes

I got myself two boxes of cupcakes to share with everyone in the house. The staff gave me an extra cupcake as gift and told me the cupcakes just came out of the oven and it would taste better if I wait till tomorrow to eat it, so we had it after breakfast the next morning.

The frosting was so smooth and soft, it melted in your mouth the moment it touch your tongue. They’re really generous with the amount of frosting too so if you like cream this cupcake is meant for you. The cake itself is tender and not too sweet just how I like it.

Key Lime Pie

Carrot Cake

They do have other sweet treats too

Nutella Nutbomb (the lighting was bad >”<)

Look out for this sign ;)

Now you know where to go to fill your sweet tooth when you’re in town.

How to get there?
